Two days before the event, I was diagnosed with pneumonia. It was frustrating not participating but I still went to Providence to support my team. Thank you to the amazing athletes who did Pay it Forward and who attacked those stairs in 2014: Paul Zarrella, Melanie Diamanti, Bill Maine, Amanda Murphy, Amanda and Michael McGlynn, Sean and Jen Morisson, and Ray Morissette. TEAM BAlieve raised $1630.00!
Finally on March 28, 2015, I finished the “vertical road race”. It wasn’t pretty but I did it! Thank you to those who joined my team in our second year: Melanie Diamanti, Helga Tolles, Heather Besse, Paul Zarrella and Ray Morissette.
There were only three of us that made the climb that snowy morning. Melanie Diamanti, took home first place in her age division. Finishing in 2 minutes and 18 seconds! Helga Tolles posted on Facebook, “Thank you all for your support to me or anyone else who climbed today! It was a very humbling experience. The burning in my lungs lasted for longer than I thought it would.” Out of all my teammates in both years, it took me the longest to complete the climb at 4 minutes and 12 seconds. However, I still felt the “power of the almighty finish line”. As I looked out the window of the 24th floor of the Omni Hotel, I was so proud to be healthy and able!
I would like to thank ALL the generous donations that we received for the American Lung Association. Daniel Bower, Elise Kerrigan and their team put together a well-organized event. The American Lung Association helps raise funds to help provide lifesaving education, research and advocacy so we can beat lung disease and soon find a cure. Because of the overwhelming support of all my family and friends, TEAM BAlieve has raised a total of $2632.58 for others!
THANK YOU to all those who made my dream to
PAY IT FORWARD COME TRUE!
